A CENTER DESIGNED FOR YOU

Are you between the ages of 14 and 24 years, and you:

  • Don’t know what you want to do?
  • Can’t afford the certificate or training program you need?
  • Want to increase your interviewing and workplace skills?
  • Never had a job before?

We may be able to help, come visit us at the Youth Center and speak with one of our career navigators.

The ideal candidate for the Youth Works program is someone who is motivated and excited about their future but needs a little extra support to get there. Primarily, we are looking for those who have just graduated and don’t have a plan for their lives.

Participants must meet program requirements. These may include: low-income at the time of enrollment and have one or more barriers to employment. These include but are not limited to: criminal history, basic skills deficient, no work experience, single parent home, child of an incarcerated parent, foster care. To discuss your individual eligibility, call 434-455-5941 or visit us 1516 Florida Ave., Lynchburg VA.

DOCUMENTS NEEDED FOR ENROLLMENT

This list can seem daunting, but we promise to work with you to get these documents and get you enrolled. Anything you can bring with you to the first meeting is helpful!

  • Personal Identification— An ID card or driver’s license. However, we can use birth certificates, passports, etc.
  • Social security card
  • School Verification— If you are in school, your administrator will need to verify that for us. If you are out of school, we will either need a release or drop-out letter from the school or your diploma. If you are over 18 and have dropped out, these are not applicable.
  • Income Verification— If you or your parents receive any sort of social service aid (TANF, SNAP, etc), we will need documentation. If you are working, we will need at least your last pay stub.
  • Barrier Identification— Birth certificates for any of your children, court documents or letters from probation, letter from a shelter providing temporary housing, social service letter indicating household size, etc.
